I cannot stress enough how important it is to have a creative cohort! First and foremost, my creative cohort is what helped me survive my graduate program!! Second, the covenant (which is what we refer ourselves as and yes, all puns intended) was not just a safe place to discuss each others creative en devours, but I was fortunate enough to be in the company of intelligent, strong and compassionate women who were okay with talking about the difficult stuff like race, gender, class, etc. In a lot of ways these women have helped me discover what Feminism is for me. That being said, the covenant is getting together and art is about to happen. Hard. But as a teaser, its going to be a lot of print, and me and B are trying to be a two woman publishing house: Birch Books © Yeah, watch out for us.

In the desperate need to consume popular culture news during the drought without my computer I consumed a lot of Access Hollywood. I know! Mind you, it is one of my guilty pleasures!! And an activity that my dad and I share, but for him it does not seem like such a guilty pleasure. But the episode last night had back to back little stories on makeup, no makeup, a general share all of celebrity women talking about the pressure put to maintain a certain level with their appearance.
It's been a little over a year since my last really big road trip; must mean I am over due!! These were a couple photos from a trip I took out with friends to Palm Springs. Because lounging and drinking by the pool would not suffice, we found ourselves exploring the surrounding towns. Every time I visit the desert it reminds me of my youth. It's a strange place, fitting for the eccentric. So if i could live any where, the desert would be the top choice. These creations by Claude K. Bell can be seen from the interstate. These dinosaurs are a reminder of a the kitsch architectural movement that built head turning structures to pull people off the freeways to stop at there establishments. The freeways were once lined with these campy structures.
These dinosaurs now greet the visitors to the Cabazon Dinosaurs, Creationist Museum.
